HI! On this i want to share the best 1 day escape from Taipei. This route is quite famous around Korean and Japanese. But for you truely backpacker, i am so sorry i can't explain you how to go these places by yourself because after 6days explore public transportation, i got sick of it and prefered join group for more enjoyable trip HAHA because even my Taiwanese friend said it's better join a group because it quite complicated and too many transportation transfer if you do it by yourself. But if you have more budget, instead of group bus, you can take private taxi tour from your hostel or hotel for around NT$4,000 for full day trip.
SO LET'S BEGIN!
I joined Korean group tour that i was bought online around
₩16,000/NT$430/US$15/RP.200,000
(exclude attraction entrance fee)
HAHA so many currency guys for you. It was a super great deal tho jinjaa! Because one group was not really too packed it around 20 persons only. But this korean group, you only can buy in Korea, so if you are not from Korea, you can check klook.com they also have similar package.
🔺️10.30AM- TOUR GATHERED TIME.🔺️
So our meeting point was at Taipei station "east3" omg you gonna get lost in this station because it just too big. I even did observation day before because i just too scared ㅋㅋ
🔺️FREE PINEAPPLE CAKE!🔺️
right after got into the bus, the guide gave us free sample that the driver sell. Super good!
🔺️11.30AM YEHLIU GEOPARK🔺️
Finally arrived at our first destination. We pay the entrance for NT$80/person to see taiwan eastern coast area that fulled by hmm spongy look-a-like stone HAHA so many weird shapes like queens head, whale tail, sandals and just beyond your imagination. Actually it is quite pretty but IT WAS HOT AS BITCH so i just couldnt handle it bye. The guide gave us 1 hour and it super more than enough. And at 12.30PM we departed to the next destination.
🔻12.50PM SHIFEN🔻
we arrived at 2nd destination that can be said as my FAVORITE. So here it is a old train rail road (that still can used)where you can fly a lantern. Many difference color with special meaning each of it as you can see the colorful chart below. The price range around NT$150~250 depends on how many colors on your lantern. Me and my friend chose "YELLOW" for NT$150 which means GOLD AND MONEY haha and after you buy it, the shop assistant will help you hanging your lantern so you can write all of your wishes on it and after that they turn the fire on and even help you taking pictures. The one thing that amazed me is "ABANG" the shop assistant just ckck they can speak korean, japanese, english and even posed you for photos HAHA funny.
MUST EAT SHIFEN
PEANUT ICECREAM actually very famous in Jiufen not shifen but who care i wanted to eat it here HAHA bought it for NT$40 this old uncle gave us super generous peanut crushed and big scoop of icecream yum! And coriander on top of icecream? I also think it gonna be weird but trust me THIS IS THE POINT!! It makes your icecream tasted deliciously different.
LIL HEAVY QUICK BITE
My guide said this is as the must eat and only available snack in Shifen. STUFFED CHICKEN WING only sell for NT$60 for one and it worth the line. I almost gave up looking for this stall but keep going till you find the train stop and this stall is right infrontof it. The chicken wing is stuffed with fried rice and glazed with sweet savory bbq kinda sauce and smokey taste from the charcoal just perfect light lunch? Haha.
🔻2.30PM HOUTONG CAT VILLAGE🔻
Reached around 30 minutes from Shifen. well this our 3rd stop of the trip, cat village. This "HOUTONG" village is a village where the japanese army lived when Taiwan was under Japan's invasion. That's why you can really feel Japanese traditional village. It super calming feeling and full of silent. Not so many tourist here, and not so many cat as it should be since it called as Cat village. But yeah not so recommended as Shifen for me it is quite nothing.
🔺️4.30PM JIUFEN🔻
yeah our very last destination and the most destination that has my highest expectation!!!! Jiufen is kinda area houses at the hill with pretty small alley to explored. But too bad this place WAS JUST TOO PACKEDDDDD i felt like kimchi with tons gallon of sweat #gross.
Many people buys this in a long queue. So we decided to try it but it just sweet.yam.balls.on.ice.for.NT$50 WELL you dont really have to try this tho haha kinda regret no regret.
🔻
And around 6.30PM the main spectacular shows begin. The light starts turning on and the city becomes mooreeeeee beautiful as i saw at google. IT WAS SO TRUE REALLY!! super pretty so make sure you see the night view of jiufen because it is the point! note that!!
Overall, i didnt expect this tour become so great because too crowd and too much sweat but it turned into all nice pictures and memories 다행이다~^^ so it super recommended for you if you come to Taipei to long, come here and enjoy more small village feeling ㅋㅋ CIAO!
