[JAPAN] HOKKAIDO: 오타루 SHIROIKOBITO & OTARU DAY TRIP

This post will bring you out for a while from Sapporo to a single short day trip to famous tourist object around Sapporo.

HOW TO GO

As i mention in Hokkaido main post, i always use bus everywhere, but you can use train and driving also. I took bus from SAPPORO BUS TERMINAL NO.1 it goes to OTARU& SHAKOTAN. Bus interval around 15mins - 20minutes, so don't worry it doesn't take so long


As Japan takes snacks to the next level, Every area has speciality for famous snacks and HERE finally I visited my all time favorite snacks that my father always brought me from Hokkaido, SHIROIKOBITO or white lovers snack, this small white chocolate sandwich biscuit with blue white packaging. Beautiful European architecture with flowers garden around but too bad to many people around haha. Here you can see how the biscuit made but AGAIN too bad it closed due renovation but the good thing so we entered the museum for seeing nothing HAHA ( because actually you have to buy entrance ticket around ¥500)

SHIROI KOBITO PARK

After strooling around museum, you can go to 4^th floor to eat some sweets in restaurant or for kids, they have DIY cookies class (price 1000~1500) that I want to join but… all…. Kids HAHA don't forget to buy some original snacks or just try their softserve ice cream super gewd <3

And next, we took bus to our next destination

OTARU

This beautiful canal city offers not many to see but peacefulness. Don’t know why but I love this city even so many tourist but it doesn’t feel really crowded. But too bad I came last time around 4pm, so mostly closed at 5 shiet HAHA I suggest you to come since morning so you can explore more. And there are so many beautiful photo spots here and famous places that you must visit while you are in Otaru.

This chicken house HAHA chicken house because they sell all chickenssss. Speciality on Fried chicken and we ordered one of their famous half fried chicken ¥980. Before i just thought of ah this fried chicken just tasted like fried chicken BUT BUT BUT suprisingly it tasted beyond my chicken taste bud HAHA it super simple no batter fried chicken with juicy tender meat and it felt like being marinated for long time SUPER YUMMMYYYY even better than Korean tongdak, or no batter fried chicken

[JAPAN] HOKKAIDO: 삿포로 SAPPORO!

Capital city of Hokkaido is not as fancy as i thought ㅋㅋ this city super simple and you can really feel love of the nature around it. Can be catagorized quite big city but since almost all tourist attractions located near each other so this city is not really hard to be explored. But is it enough in oneday?

HOW TO EXPLORE IT

as i said before, all walking distance or if you lazy, you can take subway too or bus. 

BEST PLACE TO STAY

Either sapporo station or Susukino area. I travelled alot to other parts of Hokkaido so i prefer near sapporo station but if you love food and night life, you can choose Susukino because it a center of crowd in Sapporo

MUST VISIT

Okey now, talking about this i am quite hmm can't talk alot since UNFORTUNATELY ONE DAY IS NOT ENOUGH FOR EXPLORING SAPPORO HAHA there are some places that i just passed by or i've never been too. But here some that i've visited and i thought it's pretty ♡

#1 SAPPORO TV TOWER& ODORI PARK

1 Chome Odorinishi, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido 060-0042, Japan

SUBWAY STATION : ODORI

OPEN HOUR 9AM~10PM

just walking distance straight from Sapporo station or on the way bus from airport to Sapporo station, you can see this mascot of Sapporo, where you can enjoy all beautiful sapporo city view from above. To be honest i didn't know where to go in Sapporo till i came here. I saw 360° of sapporo and finally decided some places that i've seen here ㅋㅋ On mid jul, you can also meet Sapporo beer festival, where you can buy famous sapporo beer with lamb bbq around Tower entrance.

And right infrontof the tower, you can do picnic or just sit and enjoy beautiful day at Odori park. Too bad i have no time, looking at some japanese does picnic and chitchat. 

#2 NIJO FISH MARKET

SUBWAY STATION : ODORI

OPEN HOUR 7AM~6PM

Hokkaido is always famous as biggest seafood and fruit producer in Japan. And here in Nijo fish market, you can find fresh seafoods and fruit, choose, and eat directly. Best time to come is in the early morning but actually some stores open till late afternoon too. I tried raw oyster for ¥100/piece here and 아 이것 홋카이도바다맛이군 ㅋㅋ

#3 TANUKIKOJI SHOPPING STREET

SUBWAY STATION : TANUKIKOJI

OPEN HOUR 8AM~12AM (every store is different)

Japan typical shopping street that you can find also in Sapporo. Long street with some restaurant, Japanese clothes shops, and the most important thing, DONQUIJOTE, best place to buy everthing in one shop.

#4 NORBESA FERRISH WHEEL

OPEN HOUR 11AM-11PM ( WEEKDAY) 3AM ( WEEKEND)

As susukino area is famous with night life and bars, you can upgrade your view from here, The one and only giant ferrish wheel in Sapporo. You can also enjoy Sapporo tv tower from here! 

As I mentioned in the beginning of this post, ONE DAY IS NOT ENOUGH, So I listed other place that still on my bucket list so maybe it can be as your recommendation if you stay in Sapporo for more than 1 days.

MUST EAT

GANSO RAMEN YOKOCHO

SUBWAY STATION : SUSUKINO

OPEN HOUR 11.30AM- 3AM

Must visit and eat #1 in Sapporo, as Hokkaido is super famous origin of unique ramens. And here in Ganso, is known as birth place of Miso ramen. But you can also enjoy other Hokkaido’s specialities like corn butter ramen & Seafood ramen. So many shops here, just randomly enter it and give everything a try!

SUBWAY STATION : SUSUKINO

OPEN HOUR 5PM~3AM

Even I love ramen, who can resist meat? HAHA I though it was the best meal that I had in Sapporo. OMG I came here around 10 pm and waited around 1.5hour till my turn. That hot grill, tender meat, and soy sauce dipping looked super simple but tasted like heaven~! I can’t even imagined it must be taste much more delicious if you come here in winter.

SAPPORO STATION STELLAR PLACE

2 Chome Kita 5 Jonishi, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido 060-0005, Japan

SUBWAY STATION: SAPPORO ST.

OPEN HOUR 10AM~10PM

For you who lazy to look around for good, this is the great place for you. All Hokkaido’s best food in one single place, Stellar place food court. And fortunately, I ate here many times and none of these meals disappointed me. Especially that BUTADON or grilled pork rice bowl for 800 just too delicious!

Price range 800~2500

The other food recommendation that you have try

SOUP CURRY, SEAFOOD TEMPURA, STEAMED KINGCRAB

Overall, Sapporo is VERY SIMPLE & SLOW CITY. Not so many to over but need time to be explored. Love it for food tour hope I had more time L Surely will comeback here hope this post can help you who want to come to Sapporo
